Lung is a notoriously difficult organ for conducting reproducible image analysis, due to both the challenges of consistent histology processes in lung tissue and the heterogeneity of various normal and neoplastic pulmonary features.
Using FACTS, we have a unique process for automated multiplexing of IHC biomarkers in NSCLC and other lung tumor types. We can now selectively stain a central slide with an epithelial stain and then run image analysis across the entire slide to eliminate non-neoplastic epithelial staining. We can automate IHC analysis of up to 5 NSCLC biomarkers in an approach that can be run in CLIA compliant laboratories. See FACTS on multiplexed IHC biomarkers for more information

Image analysis can be used to automatically identify all neoplastic regions in a central section with FACTS. Then using image registration techniques, the images can be aligned with consecutive sections to multiplex IHC biomarkers
