The eye presents a fascinating challenge for whole section image analysis. In our projects it frequently requires first a combination of careful pattern recognition followed by substantial adjustment by a pathologist and sometimes manual region of interest drawing of the layer involved. For the majority of ophthalmology projects, careful attention to detail on the region of interest and novel cell and vascular quantitation morphometrics is what is required by our clients. Please see some of our image analysis examples in the posts below related to digital pathology of the eye.
Our service based offerings in ophthalmology include whole section scanning at 200x or 400x (20x or 40x microscope object equivalents), quantitative evaluation of cells, tissue geometries, or vascularization, and board-certified pathologist review and a formal pathology report.
